What I haven't shown you is my own stall at the fair. So here it is. The photo of myself was taken by Dr. U. Hundertmark from Göttingen, thanks a lot for this. I very seldom have photos of myself because I am always the one taking pictures. I am so happy about the new Christmas baubles and can't stop trying out new ideas for paintings on them. Because I sold all of the new motifs at the fair I need to paint some more first to show them to you. This coming weekend I am going to be at another small fair at the Caritas Seniorenstift at Göttingen. So tonight I will be painting, painting, painting. Hopefully I can take photos tomorrow and post them too. So be patient with me.

Was ich euch noch nicht gezeigt habe ist mein eigener Stand vom Oktobermarkt in Nikolausberg. Also - hier bitte. Das Foto von mir wurde von Herrn Dr. U. Hundertmark aus Göttingen gemacht, vielen vielen Dank dafür. Ich habe nur ganz wenig Fotos von mir selbst, weil ich immer diejenige bin, die die Fotos macht.
Ich freue mich so darüber, dass ich endlich bemalbare weiße Weihnachtskugeln gefunden habe, dass ich garnicht aufhören kann, neue Motive zu erfinden. Weil ich alle Weihnachtskugeln mit den neuen Motiven am letzten Wochenende verkauft habe und nicht daran dachte Fotos zu machen, kann ich euch jetzt auch keine zeigen. Jetzt heißt es erstmal wieder malen, malen, malen, weil ich am kommenden Wochenende nochmal zu einem kleinen Martinimarkt ins Caritas Seniorenstift nach Göttingen gehe. Sobald die ersten Motive fertig sind werde ich sie gleich fotografieren und zeigen, versprochen. Also habt Geduld mit mir.

Late again, I know. I also know that I shouldn't promise things I can't keep. But I really was planning to show you all these beautiful things yesterday. And then I had to do this and that and faster than I thought the day was over. But now here are my photos of last weekend's arts and craft fair at the church of Nikolausberg close to Göttingen. Every year this is organized by very friendly and helpful people who do all this for a good cause. This year it was organized to help "KIMBU". This is an organisation which takes care of very ill  children and their families in their own home. The treatments are paid by social services but the gasoline to get to the children is not among other things. All profit went to them this year. Ich weiß eigentlich, dass ich nichts versprechen sollte, wenn ich nicht sicher bin, dass ich es halten kann. Ihr wisst ja wahrscheinlich, wie es ist: man möchte so gerne aber dann kommt immer irgendwas dazwischen und schon ist wieder ein Tag vorbei. Aber jetzt endlich kann ich euch die Fotos des Oktobermarktes in der Klosterkirche Nikolausberg vom letzten Wochenende zeigen. Die Ausstellung wird jedes Jahr von sehr netten und hilfsbereiten Menschen organisiert, die den Gewinn jedes Jahr einer anderen gemeinnützigen Einrichtung zugute kommen lassen. Dieses Jahr ist es "KIMBU", ein Verein für die häusliche Kinderkrankenpflege e.V. in Göttingen. Dieser Verein kümmert sich um sehr kranke Kinder und auch deren Familien und zwar bei sich zuhause. Die Pflege selbst wird zwar von der Krankenkasse übernommen aber die vielen Fahrtkosten z.Bsp. nicht. Und dafür werden die Spenden gebraucht, unter anderem. Back from a very busy weekend at a wonderful art fair at the "Klosterkirche Nikolausberg" let me share with you the cake I took along. Bringing a cake was part of the payment for participating. Zurück von einer wunderbaren Ausstellung in der "Klosterkirche Nikolausberg" möchte ich euch gerne erstmal ein Foto des Kuchens zeigen, den es als Teil der Bezahlung für die Teilnahme mitzubringen galt. In meinem Falle war es ein Kirschkuchen. Heute Nachmittag zeige ich euch noch mehr Fotos der vielen Kunstwerke die dort zu erstehen waren. Also kommt doch bitte heute Abend nochmal vorbei. My grandma's cookbook - Das Kochbuch meiner Oma

 Recently I watched a movie called "Julie and Julia". I quite liked the movie. Even more so when I realized that the original video clips of this famous Julia Child who the movie was about still existed. And I noticed how very well Meryl Streep played this lady. The movie made me think about which cook book of all the 319 books I own (yes I do collect cook books) I use the most frequently. Here it is:

A book given to me by my grandmother who had also given one to her daughter (my mum). So what I am trying to say is that the same book was and still is used by three generations of women. And it only has very few black and white photos. The original one I have is really shattered and the cover and some pages are missing (same thing with the one my mum has). But my mum being the investigative type found out that the book is still being printed and she bought me one (and herself too).

The new version is still printed exactly like the original. Not only does it contain recipes but also lots of information as to how you clean your house, do the washing properly and take care of husband and children. And those tips are the most amusing information in the book. Unfortunately for the English speaking readers - it is only printed in German.

Vor kurzem sah ich "Julie and Julia", einen herrlichen Film über Julia Child, Fernsehköchin und Kochbuchautorin so um 1960. Er gefiel mir noch besser als ich herausfand, dass es immer noch Filmausschnitte von Julia Child im Internet gibt und dass Meryl Streep sie wirklich wunderbar gespielt hat. Auf Grund dieses Filmes überlegte ich mir, welches Kochbuch (der 319 Kochbücher in meinem Besitz, ja ich sammle Kochbücher) ich wohl am häufigsten verwende. Und hier ist es:

Dieses Buch bekam ich vor langer Zeit von meiner Großmutter, die auch meiner Mama eines gegeben hatte. Mit der Zeit wurden unsere Exemplare immer unansehnlicher durch den häufigen Gebrauch und so freute ich mich sehr, als meine Mutter das Buch als Neuauflage in einer Buchhandlung fand und natürlich gleich für uns beide erstand. Das Buch sieht immer noch ganz genauso aus wie unsere Originale. Die gleiche Schrift und Aufteilung. Es enthält nicht nur Rezepte sondern auch viele nützliche Hinweise zur Pflege von Haus und Familie. Und die sind besonders amüsent zu lesen.

Christmas baubles - Weihnachtskugeln

 Finally I found the perfect white glass baubles to paint on with watercolours. I had been searching for years and here they are. They will go on sale this coming weekend at the "Oktobermarkt in Nikolausberg" (more about this fair here) and afterwards at "Local Colours" in Göttingen. Wish me luck that the visitors will like them and of course buy them too.

Endlich habe ich die perfekten weißen Weihnachtskugeln gefunden. Schon seit Jahren suche ich Glaskugeln, die ich mit Aquarellfarben bemalen kann und nun habe ich sie endlich erstanden. Sie werden das erste Mal auf dem "Oktobermarkt in Nikolausberg" (mehr dazu hier) zum Verkauf stehen und danach bei "Local Colours" in Göttingen. Jetzt drückt mir die Daumen, dass sie den Besuchern des Marktes gefallen und natürlich auch gekauft werden.

After having spent almost all weekend in the garden or kitchen with berries and quince I would like to share a few photos with you. Saturday morning I woke up to a gorgeous frosted garden. The sun came up and taking pictures was pure bliss. Let me show you.

Nachdem ich jetzt fast das ganze Wochenende mit Garten und den Früchten desselben zugebracht habe, möchte ich euch gerne ein paar Bilder aus meinem Garten zeigen. Am Samstag hatten wir die erste richtige Frostnacht und morgens war alles weiß überzogen. Zusammen mit dem Sonnenschein gab es viele Motive. Ich hoffe sie gefallen euch.

This is a rather short notice on this exhibition but until very recently I didn't know myself I was attending. Somebody cancelled I was asked to step in which I did very gladly. Since I have never attended or been there before I cannot show you any pictures but from what I have heard it is a very "in" fair to visit. It is in an old church at Nikolausberg in Göttingen (Augustinerstrasse) and there will be lots to see, taste and listen to. There is art, food and even life music by the "swinging amatörs". Before I forget to mention all profit will go to KIMBU. So if you have the time come and see me there.

Leider konnte ich euch diesen Termin nicht früher sagen, da ich selbst erst seit kurzem weiß, dass ich teilnehmen werde. Ein anderer Aussteller hat abgesagt und so bin ich sozusagen nachgerückt. Da ich selbst noch nie dort ausgestellt habe, kann ich euch auch leider keine Fotos zeigen. Soweit ich es aber gehört habe, ist die Ausstellung sehr sehenswert. In einer alten Kirche und es gibt außer Kunst und Kunsthandwerk auch Kulinarisches und sogar Life-Musik mit den "Swinging Amatörs". Bevor ich es vergesse, der Reinerlös des Marktes geht an die Organisation KIMBU. Also wenn ihr Zeit und Lust habt kommt uns doch besuchen.
