Cacti - Kakteen

I can't believe it's been that long that I haven't posted anything. But it has, sadly. Anyway in the meantime I had intended to travel to Milano and ended up in London due to the ash cloud and an airline strike. Then it was my birthday with lots of celebrating and so on.  Ich kann es garnicht glauben, dass es schon wieder so lange her ist seit meinem letzten post. In der Zwischenzeit wollte ich eigentlich nach Mailand bin aber wegen der Aschewolke und einem Fluglinienstreik doch in London gelandet. Dann hatte ich Geburtstag mit den üblichen Feier-Vor-und-Nachbereitungen und so weiter. Last weekend I went to a wonderful exhibition at the Old Botanical Garden in Göttingen. My children go there regularly for classes on various subjects. They always come back very happy, motivated and a lot wiser when it comes to plants from all over the world. My children had also informed me of this exhibition of cacti. They had seen some during one of the classes and wanted to have some to. So we went to this fair and I was amazed. I had no idea how big a variety of cacti there is. The boys bought some "living stones" and I did too. The exhibition is once a year on the first weekend in June. I would have liked to give you a link but they are renovating their website so please check some time later. To show you a small portion of the plants we saw there - here you go.

Letztes Wochenende mußte ich mit meinen Jungs zu einer Kakteenausstellung in den Alten Botanischen Garten in Göttingen. Traumhaft sage ich euch. Wie viele unterschiedliche Sorten es gibt habe ich nicht gewußt. Meine Kinder gehen öfter zum Botanischen Garten zu Kursen. Sie kommen immer sehr glücklich, motiviert und mit sehr viel Wissen über die Pflanzen dieser Welt wieder. Die Kurse dort kann ich jedem nur empfehlen. Ganz zu schweigen von den Ausstellungen und Konzerten. Die website wird im Moment renoviert aber hier ist der link für später. Hier nun einige Fotos der Ausstellung.

Sehen diese "Lebendigen Steine" nicht tatsächlich wie echte Steine aus? Schaut mal, ob ihr entdecken könnt, welche wirkliche Steine sind und welche nicht.

And I couldn't resist those. Aren't they lovely? They are called "Gauklerblume". I would translate it as "Clown Flower" but have no idea whether this is correct.

Ich konnte bei diesen Schönheiten nicht widerstehen. Sie heißen Gauklerblume und ich hoffe, sie werden sich in meinem Garten wohlfühlen.
